Ford Mountain
Winter Trip

Ford Mountain is another one of those low level mountains which is a short hike from the parking lot and gives splendid views.
With a lot of the Cheam Range looking north west and north and south viewing Nesakwatch Valley lined with the Slesse Range on it's west and Rexford Range on it's east and Williams Peak looking north easterly from the Ford Mountain summit.
Finding the trail head is not hard by heading east on the Chilliwack River Road from the Vedder Bridge in Sardis, the Ford Mountain Correctional Center sign can be seen on the left side of the road just before the bridge that crosses over the Chilliwack River.
Keep going straight over the bridge and from the left is the Foley Creek Forest Service Road but keep going straight and soon there is another forest service road on the left side again and this is the road to the trail head.
A truck or 4X4 is prefered as this road is steep and makes many hair pin turns as it climbs up the side of Ford Mountain. Near the end of the drivable road more than two thirds of the way up the mountain is the trail head.

Heading up the trail.

At the area where the look out was.

Looking from the lookout south west at Mount Pierce left and Mount MacFarlane behind to it's right.

Looking across the valley at Mounts Web and Corriveau.

Eventually the trail reaches a high viewing area and starts to cross along the side of the mountain instead of continuing to climb up it.
This is where you leave the trail and hike straight up hill following the ridge incline and where the views really start to open up with good views of the valley and Chilliwack Campground at the head of Chilliwack Lake.

Looking down at the residential Summer lot subdivision.

Hiking higher up the ridge and great views of Chilliwack Lake.

The canyon that Lindeman Lake flows out of becoming that part of Post Creek which flows into the Chilliwack River and looking at Lindeman Lake far below.
To see this great view of Lindeman Lake go to a rock ledge on the West side of the ridge.

Looking back at the route travelled so far along the ridge and looking down the valley and Ford Mountain in the distance.

Some wild flowers along the way.

View down the Winter avalanche shoot where the Flora Lake Trail crosses below.

More views of Chilliwack Lake.

View at the ridge and mountains along the East side of Chilliwack Lake and what llies ahead toward the summit.
