Bates Mountain Mount Bates is NE from the northern end of Tacla (Takla) Lake where the Driftwood River flows into it. Takla Lake is NW of Fort Saint James in the northern central area of B.C. There is a good book about the Driftwood Valley that discribes some Naturalists who studied a wolf pack. I have been within a few feet of the descendants of the wolf pack they studied.
